Long story short, I went to my daughters school to donate $75, money I wasn't expecting.  While speaking with her principal I found out that the money would do the most good paying off overdue lunch accounts.  Sadly, I learned that $75 would not even  put a dent in what was owed. 


In my opinion, there are a few things in life children should not have to worry about... Shelter, love, and food being among them.  While driving  home I was inspired to do something more.  Ta-da!  Gravel ride!  I have invited everyone I can think of and even have a few sponsors... Thank you to Big Shark Bicycle Co, Qikcover, Bike Stop Cafe, and Chamois Butt'r.  The ride will be approximately 28 miles and open to EVERYONE.There is a public bathroom located at 14 miles. After the first loop you will be four miles from your car and can decide if you want to do the next loop.  Stayed tuned for a map of the course. 




The date is set for Saturday January 28th at 8am.  Hopefully Mother Nature plays nice and we get a beautiful day to pedal.  We will meet at the Hwy 94 Commuter Lot/Research Park.  Watch for Balloons! There will be a quick meeting and giveaway and by 8:15 we are pedaling.  



  Helmets are required!  The course can be ridden with a cross or mountain bike. Road and tri bikes are not suggested.

   You can't make it?  This page was created for those who cannot attend and would like to support this cause.  We have the opportunity to ease a financial burden some families are struggling with. Life is very unpredictable, you never know, one day you may need the kindness of a few strangers. Donations will be accepted until Feb 15th.

Nothing Grows In The Comfort Zone

"All of our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them".  -Walt Disney Comfort zone:  A place or situation where one feels safe or at ease without stress.  I hate to admit this but I am completely ruled by my habits and my routines.  By having these habits and routines I have made my life very comfortable, very safe and easy. In fact, I have made it too comfortable.  One day this past January I had a thought... My life is cozy like a warm fuzzy blanket from the dryer, it's become too casual and too small.  As humans we are wired to be creatures of comfort, enjoy what feels good, settle in and relax. Lauf Grit Takes On The DK200

This post almost got lost. I found it in the archives and thought it would be good to post since my Warbird is still rockin' the Lauf Grit fork.  I LOVE IT!   Dear Guys and Gals at Lauf, First of all I want to thank you for the opportunity to be a part of your Dirty Dozen Team.  You all sure hand picked a STELLAR group of individuals to represent the Lauf Grit Garvel Fork! I can say that with confidence because I know most of the Dirty Dozen personally. In fact, I finished my 1st DK200 with Chad (in 2012), a couple years I was able to ride with Bobby (until he got speedy), Chris and I rode together last year and finished within a few minutes of each other (and I know his wife), Don B. is a good friend and magnificent cheerleader (going for a Goblet!), Jimmy is a first-rate fella I have ridden with at a couple DK's and sadly one year I passed him 'relaxing" in a ditch.
